I Recently received an email from Mike Downey in VA USA i actually had a double take when i read with abject horror this story. Id be interested to get our communities response to this outrageous behaviour.
Injustice in Arlington, County, Virginia - USA
I testified before the Arlington County, Virginia Board last month and I was ignored. The Injustice will be broadcast every month until the Arlington Board resolves the blatent Civil Rights Violations.
Arlington County called about a potential mosquito problem from our Lily pond stocked with Japanese Koi fish and water lilies.
I temporarily removed the Koi fish in the pond and poured in bleach to kill any mosquitoes and I informed Arlington. I then returned the fish to the pond. As directed, I placed a mosquito larvae capsule in the pond. A Violation Notice was then taped to the front door. Arlington County then said, “I put a work order in.” Then the Agent of Arlington (Inrecon/Belcor), had ignored a no-trespassing sign, entered into the backyard double locked gate and filled the lily pond with sand, which killed a dozen rare Koi fish and destroyed the pond. Damages are $30,000.
The rental property is owned by a Disabled Deaf 85 year old, her sole source of income; who lived in Arlington 42 years.
Arlington Attorneys refused to settle for a year. We then filed suit and Arlington’s sole basis for defense was “We are immune from lawsuits.” Our Attorney said, “They destroy your pond and hide behind immunity.”
