In my early days of collecting fish I started off buying domestic koi in the early 90's. I didnt know what Japanese Koi looked like back then, only they were expensive. After researching from one of the early koiusa magazines, I got a chance to visit a local Japanese Koi dealer. I have to say it was night and day when I compared the fish I had been buying and I also got a chance to see the Gruden's(sp) 34" Kohaku in the dealer's main pond before it won ZNA SoCal. I have to say that was what made me switch to buying Japanese Imported fish.
JMHO,
Tony
