Elsewhere I have commented on my love-hate relationship with a pecan tree that is next to my pond. It is the messiest tree imaginable, creating much extra work to maintain stable water in the pond, despite screening over the pond that prevents direct littering of the pond. In the intense heat of a central Florida summer, however, I put away thoughts of cutting it down. The shade and cooling effect are much appreciated for 4 miserable months.
