Several years ago, I tested a brand of off the shelf filtering. It was presurized with a UV in it. As far as fines removal and clarity of the water, it performed well.
In 2007, they changed some of the suppliers.
Because of the past track record, I had recomended that filter. Before I relized there were problems, I had already sold 10. There was a 100% failure rate in those units. And all the replacement parts they sent also failed quite often. I replaced parts on one at no charge more than 20 times before the factory replaced the whole filter.
Those might be something to do a piece on as well
