Hey D, that's a great track record, 5 years. Sounds like you've got a good design and installation system going.

UV units are one piece of Koi pond equipment I'd like to do a video documented quality test on, maybe comparing 10 units on the market - for performance and durability. There are quite a few flimsy designs out there,... particularly among the 'Off the shelf' garden pond market.

The problem I have with green water in general, with closed system ponds is the constant production of waste. It's literally another 'creature' in the pond system vying for nutrition and oxygen,... and dying and re-generating constantly. Another variable in a small body of water that's constantly mixing up the balance. My view is 'get rid of the unnecessary variable,... and you get rid of one more potential problem'. On the farm, or in a breeder's world it's a necessary evil,... I think it's best to keep it out of hobbyist's ponds,... and preferably to keep it out with heavy bio-filtration rather than a UV,.. when possible.
