I agree partially. That is why UV's in the skimer are such a waste of time and money. There is absolutly no filtration besides very large solids removal before the water goes past the UV's.
After 5 years on one, we removed the sleeve to retrieve a bulb section that has fallen into the bottom.
There was very little if any residue on the sleeve. Which is very contrary to many I have seen that were totally covered with debris.
All that being said, the ones that are before the filter are after the extensive settling areas.
