James,
There isnt any clever probes or mathmatical equasions.
IF I find Costia, I do the following
9am day 1
Dose the system with Chloramine T
10am day 2
Turn off all circulating pumps and isolate the filters. Then add additional air to what normally runs in the pond, and dose the pond with PP measured for pond gallonage only, not including gallonage of the filtration.
Leave to bubble away for 4 hours then neutralise with Hydrogen Peroxide. and start everything up again.
I have NEVER had to retreat a pond doing this and never lost a koi through it either.
Forgive the spelling I am knackered.
