AKCA Press Release 11 May 2009

When Spike Cover and Karen Pattist resigned as Committee Chairs of the AKCA’s Project KHV and KHA Program, respectively, the AKCA Board of Directors directed Harlan Glenn (Chairperson) and Robert Finnegan (Board member and the likely next Chairperson) to meet and agree on staffing requirements for interim Steering Committees.

These Steering Committees are necessary to provide interim control, to review and implement necessary organizational, programmatic and personnel changes and to seek the most qualified applicants to assume long term control of the KHA and KHV Committees.

Harlan and Bob met today and agreed upon the following:

KHA Program Interim Steering Committee: Joe White, Chair
Project KHV Interim Steering Committee: Ray Jordan and James Reilly, Co-Chairs

Projected personnel for each interim Steering Committee were agreed upon; they will be contacted by their respective chairs ASAP to verify their willingness to serve.

In this time of turmoil due to the above resignations, it’s important that while we all thank Spike and Karen for their years of service, at the same time we must unite to get our organization back on track.

Harlan and Bob want to stress that all of us need to pull together to get the AKCA through this rough patch expeditiously so that we can face the future as a team. Let’s put this behind us and get back to fish, fun and friendship.
