JR,
Many of us here considered ourselves as advance/high end koi keepers. We all spent quite a bit of money on koi. However along our koi journey, we are not always happy with the purchases due to many reasons.
I kept koi in Japan’s mud pond long time ago before the popularity of "mud pond keeping" today. There was no mud pond fee charged by the breeders at that time ……… at least, not in my case. Unfortunately none of my koi ever returned to my pond. I had a similar case as yours; my koi was sold to other people without my knowledge and without compensation. I got screwed on koi both bought in Japan and kept in Japan, their screwed up in my cases were WAY more than 15k, in fact many times more. Don’t ask me who and the whole story behind it because it was not a good idea to bring the story up in a public forum. It's now became a history to me. My money has been gone forever. There was no reason for me to get upset forever. I returned to koi keeping couple years ago and keep a few koi for now. I am not spending the money like I used to.
JR, I am not sure I agree with the way you handle your misfortune. Enough is enough. There got to be an end to it. Life has to move on.
Both of you are well respected in the koi world outside of Japan. Both of you are fine gentleman. There is no way that any one of you would do bad thing to each other intentionally. I had the pleasure to meet both of you and Nigel a long time ago; even though it was a brief moment, I still have a fond memory as of today's date. In my opinion, friendship is more important than anything else. Show the world koi, we are all loving people.
May I suggest that you two find a chance to go to Japan together. Since you two have been good friends for decades. May I also suggest Peter get JR a nice koi as a gift (NOT AS COMPENATION). I am sure Peter will be happy to do so; this way Peter can show his appreciation of the friendship that you have given to him for all these years.
This is just my personal opinion to resolve this unpleasant event. I have no intention whatsoever to upset either one of you. If I do, please accept my apology right here.
Love and friendship from Canada!
Derrick
