overdose, yes. And in small fish with excess injection doses, it is theorized that killing all bacteria in one massive dose releases toxins ( from the dead bacteria) into the system and kills the fish outright.
Still, Thom and a few others have been experimenting with the above average dose in order to avoid immunity issues and have seen no bad side effects? This goes against all we thought was true based on past experiences. There is still a lot to learn.
But I have actually seen dropsy get worse when antibiotics were used. - JR
