Morn JR, Thanks for that fascinating piece information. Is fatty liver disease an incidental finding, or is it a known cause of mortality in koi?

It is my understanding that in a healthy specimen liver should not actually store fat,and that an overt fatty liver is a *sign* that metabolic storage process has gone wrong ....for what ever reason?

D originally mentioned multiple lipid type observations with the dead koi.

If his observations are accurate,and what he was seeing in all the dead Koi indicated fatty organs,It may just be a finding of multiple organ failure,or was he looking at the something that had the same underlying cause-hence his perfectly good question regarding the source of feeding.

Without 20k an endocrinologist,pathologist,Erik Johnston and a laboratory we will probably never know,and even with all that,probably never know anyway Was he really seeing fat???

Anyway- I don't think the koi sticks played a major part in demise of the "Dropsy" individuals in question.
