Absolutely. I would go so far as to say that it is very unlikely that the make-up of a koi food would actually cause dropsy. There would have to be an awful lot wrong with it. See my post below.
Dropsy is an end result of many insults or a very serious insult to a koi's health. When you think about it, it is surprising that more koi don't suffer from dropsy. I have seen koi with massive lesions and evident bacterial infection without any sign of pineconing. The kidneys of a koi are very resilient. When they do give up there is normally nothing much to do about it.
