One more thing. In bacterial infections, they usually respond to antibiotic treatment. Not always, but enough to see that antibiotic treatment of bacterial infections does work.
But when it comes to dropsy, I have only had one fish respond to treatment. And the only thing I did was to treat it to the best water possible, along with extra oxygen. Cleared up in about ten days. Was it actually dropsy, or something that exhibited the symptoms, but was not actually dropsy? I dont know.
What I do know is by the time the pond owner notices the fish has a problem, and then finally brings it to me, I believe the fish is on its last leg, with any chance of survival long since past.
