Morning Michael
That too is something of a trend in the ponds. A lot are too small, and are over crowded, many are under/without filtration. While some of the basic water quality tests are usually within guidelines (ammonia, nitrite, pH, etc), in the majority you also have a high nitrAte reading, some off the chart on my testing kit.
I suspect that the food, which for the most part is low quality to begin with, and after being stored for ages has lost its vitamin C content. THat, in concert with the poor water quality, tends to show that in many cases, dropsy like symptoms are more environmental than has been taught on other boards.
And by the time the symptoms show, in the majority of the cases, it is too late to correct the problem.
I realize that while not very scientific, it is too much of a trend to ignore?
