Thanks,the pumps only had a small amount of seeds /leaves in the them- I was amazed that they had overheated and stopped so easily. They are only seeveral weeks old. The skimmers are basket type with a sliding sleeve that slides up and down to suit the pond level.
The pumps are 12000 ltr.The UV supplied by one of the pumps is now tripping every time I connect it. It too was scalding hot when the skimmer pump failed.The skimmer basket slots are too big so the only quick way forward at present is to add some jap matting under the skimmer basket. Would appreciate any ideas on long term solution...although the jap matting my be the simplest and best solution in this case.
