Great stuff JR. You have talked around this subject before, but now you are really tackling it in your great style.
Does this lead on to "why Yamakoshi"?
By the way, when in China a few years ago we came upon a large pond stocked with brightly coloured carp, some of which were very large. It was in a temple garden (no surprise there). I was surprised to be told that these were koi, and that koi were first bred in China and introduced to Japan at a later date. I tried to correct this erronious statement, but to no avail. I guess it depends on what you mean by "koi". Whether China has developed its own breed of coloured carp, or whether they came from Japan in the first place, might be another interesting topic.
