No kidding! Wow, I'm amazed, I would never have expected that result. VERY interesting. I think I was under the impression that the fertile result in adult form of a goldfish/koi hybrid would be more like the lowest number from that Japanese study ( 2.6%). wonder if there is a difference in fertility between the carp/goldie hydrid and the koi/goldfish hybrid? That could explain the difference between the fertilization rates and free swimming rates in the lab and in the field- nature looking very favorable on the better survivability characteristics than in the shelter of a lab. JR
