Most of the acedemic publishers carry professional journals- very expensive but very good. I get an old issue of Applied Microbiology from time to time. I've also been known to pay the price ( $25 typically) for a new paper on a particular subject I'm thinking of or writing about. And the books published ( yearly and monthly) are excellent. There is a whole world out there of information that never gets down to our quirky hobby -- so we need to go 'fetch it'.
It's a great hobby in and of itself. Best, JR
