I've seen plenty of healthy koi in water temps over 90 degrees F. They have reduced food intake, and are less active, but otherwise fine. Up to a point, hot water alone isn't going to make the koi sick. I've had koi in water as hot as 96 one extremely hot summer and not a sik one in the bunch. Most of the time my water temps are moderated by Gulf Breezes in summer and the air temp here seldom goes above 92 degrees. Water temps tend to stay around 85 near the surface but as low as 72 near the bottom. Hence my feeding only in early mornng in summer.
I've never seen an outbreak of Aeromonas/Psuedomonas in ponds with nitrate concentrations under 15 ppm. Almost without exception I see these type infections in ponds with elevated nitrates, usually around 90 to 150 ppm. Also, nearly every time there were either flukes, lice, anchors or other ectoparasite involved.
