Larry, check the product marked for either sodium montmorillonite or calcium Monmorillonite ( calcium bentonite). This is what refine and refresh are. As I mentioned in my first post to Lee, it comes down to purity/grade and refining.
These a great article in Rinko about refresh, the original source and manufacturer for clay for the koi pond- he discusses the reasons why the Japanese where using this clay back in 1970 and how the grades and compositions compare as water cleaning products ( expanding and electron charges) of sodium vs calcium.
years ago, a test was done on four brands of clay being used in the UK for koi water. it was fascinating to see that they varied greatly in ingredient compounds and the ratio of each where they were common from product to product.
