Dear NI Colleagues,
Months or possible years ago, I recall reading a post on NI (or in a magazine article) written by John Nevins our colleague from the UK on the difference between Calcium Bentonite and other clay and bentonite products.
And, though I looked everywhere I can't find his article and I don't know how to get hold of Brother Nevins.
If the article mentioned above wasn't written by John I then apologise to whom ever it was who did write it...
Nonetheless, I have been using bentonite for years and I would like to continue to use this product in order to maintain the water chemistry of my sealed ponds as I believe it does offer a benefical factor in the continued health and maintenance of my fish.
I can't prove it. However, I believe it does. And, for me - this works!
Thus, a local cement company has what might be an alternative. And, they have provided the following product analysis which I am herein asking any on NI if you would review this analysis and either recommend my using this or my staying far away from (this product) for my pond/koi.
Please, advise.
Their bags state the following:
SiO2 60.50 %
Al2O3 18.20 %
Fe2O3 5.25 %
MgO 3.26 %
CaO 3.14 %
Na2O 0.20 %
K2O 0.14 %
LOI 4.85 %
