Lee, I'm surprised that such a bright guy as yourself is suggesting that moon shots are the same as curing diseases?
In 2008 man can not cure the common cold. Or cancer, or diabetes or Lupus or polio or AIDs or ebola or distemper or Rabies. I'm sure the list of incurable diseases is very long indeed.

To 'cure' a disease we need to know what causes it. No one has nailed down the cause of hikkui. In fact, it might not be a disease at all.
There is no cure for hikkui, only remission.

The most interesting thing about hikkui is it's presence in populations.
* it is only seen in certain skin type varieties
* it is not seen in the young, only sexually mature adult fish
* it is less common in mudpond settings
* in some collections it is isolated to one individual and all other long term school members never exhibit it. Yet in other ponds, all the individual fish seem to show some degree of hikkui? This suggests environmental factors play a role in the expression of this disease or condition yet some individuals will still break with the condition regardless of excellent conditions.
