I feel this is one of the many koi related 'holy grails'
As I have yet to find out 100% the direct cause of Hikui, finding a cure or a prevention would seem a little further from reach.
But I do know of 5 koi that in their owners pond developed bad Hikui which was treated with every method over 3 years with no change, the koi where then moved to a new pond, bigger, more water per koi, massive filters....... the Hikui went away all by itself and remains gone.
So with this thought that it is an enviromental issue, maybe our, ponds, water, stocking levels have something to play in this.
