It is a good-feeling type of project.

Mike, our living on a small island in the middle of no where, as you know, makes it impossible to contribute our own time and energy to a koi club's activities or to the setting up of a koi show; as we're never there when needed...to set up the show,bench the fish or tear it down.

Mike, I just returned from the Tropical Koi Club Show in Boca Raton, Florida (which was held this past week-end) and I really tip my cap to those who worked so diligently to make this past week-end's show such a huge success.

Among the many there was Ron and Sue Bilkis and Martin Wilcox the show chairman's and Gordy Nash and his beloved wife Adrian and dozens of others who set up the tanks, benched the fish, handled the water quality, arranged for the trophies and the awards dinner and so forth - that there is no way someone as myself who is subject to a difficult schedule of international airplane flights (just to make it to the show) can contribute as much of themselves as those whose time and phyical efforts make these shows possible....other than a financial contribution such as my CI pin fund raising idea and other financial gifts.

Yes, some day our hobby may afford a paid staff to do all the work required - now done by the club members themselves. However, until then...those (like ourselves) who live outside the zone have to do something to carry our weight and (for me) the Cayman Island pins is my way of carrying my alloted responsibility.

I only hope there are several thousand others in our hobby who might feel as I and who will now choose to purchase a Cayman Island Koi Club pin from Dale Torok in Lexington - as evidence of their contribution (to our koi hobby).
