'I admitt I have not yet come to fully understand some of the skin quality references that you talk of. Plastic whites, China whites, depth of white, and so on. Ive not been at all active with the greater koi community via shows and clubs so my knowledge is limmited to what I see and hear on the web.'
Where are you from? I am sure someone on here can direct you to a good club shows where you will get to see the whites in person. The education you will gain by comparing whites against the top gosanke winners is worth the time and study. Likewise, there is an oppurtunity to gain an understanding of how much variation there can be between sexes and ages.
