My husband's great grandfather was John G. Hoover. He was first married to Sarah Brooks. They were divorced and he married Sarah Owen. He had 11 children with Sarah Brooks and 7 children with Sarah Owen. My husband's maternal grandfather was George Washington Hoover, product of John G.'s first marriage. My husband and I were in Fentress Co. about 20 years ago and we found John G's. grave in an old cemetery off of Black Mountain Rd. out by Pickett State Park. A Sarah Hoover was buried there also, but a little ways away from John's grave. Not sure which Sarah is buried there. The story is that Sarah Owen was the housekeeper for John G. and Sarah Brooks Hoover. She had children by John G. during that time. He married Sarah Owen in 1877 but had children by her born in 1870, 1872, 1873, 1875, prior to their marriage and they had 3 children after that. His youngest child was born when he was 66.
In the family tree info that I have a Manson Hover was born in 1887, child or Henry Hoover and Mary King. Henry Hoover was the 2nd child of John G. and Sarah Brooks Hoover. Was this your grandfather? This Manson married Maudie Atkinson.
