I have not done any research on the Choate family. But in the library in Jamestown Tenn.(Fentress Co.) and in Byrdstown Tenn.(Pickett Co.) there is a great geneolgy section.
Espessially the Scroggins family.And after looking in one of the Scroggins books that I have,it looks like Malinda Scroggins Choate moved to Michigan(?) with 2nd husband.1st husband was a Fitzgerald.
I'm pretty sure the Choates were from the Fentress/Pickett Co. areas as there is a Choate cemetary in Jamestown.
