He is buried in San Jose, CA. One interesting fact is that he was the first president of 1st Natl. Bank of San Jose, which is now Bank of the West. He also founded 2 other banks in California. John's wife parents were killed during the wagon train trip to California and she was adopted by an uncle by the name of George Washington Kidd. Her birthname was Rosa Bilterman and it was changed to Rose Kidd. According to the 1880 census, she was born in Missouri and she was 33 years old. Her father was born in Germany. Debra Taylor
