My John S. Smith married in 1840 Sarah A Hinds in Fentress Co. By 1850 he is living in Hamilton co Ill.
I believe that he is son of Samuel Smith and Rebecca????? they also were in Illinois by 1850. Other sons were Solomon, James, BALAM L. age 12 in 1850, Samuel age 10 and George W. age 9 . With name of Balam there must be a connection somewhere.
