I have been researching my line of the Hood family through about 181 years of occupation along the East Fork of the Obey River. Hoodtown occupied the river bottom a few miles north from the Wilder Bridge. Our family uses the dirt trail from Hwy 127 across from what used be called the Wright Frogge Farm. Walk to the edge of the Plateau and then down the steep slopes to the Hood Cemetary. My direct ancestors who called Hoodtown home, were: Royal Hood, Lawrence Hood, James Alvin Hood, Solomon Hood, Elisha Hood, Andrew Hood. I am currently involved with a nationwide HOOD family DNA genetics project and am more intereted in my families past than ever before. I know many other families also inhabited the area known as Hoodtown. If you know any stories involving life in or around the East Fork Valley, I would love to have your stories, and perhaps there could be someone out there who knew some of the men I listed above and can offer some specific stories. If anyone can assist or point me in the direction of someone who has Hoodtown memories, I would greatly appreciate it!
