Posted by Liz I don't know much about the South Family, but I will share what I do know. My grandmother Rosie Hall was born in 1911. Her mother died in childbirth. Her mothers name was Diantha South. I have no documentation of this, only what my granny was told growing up. Anyway Diantha had a brother named Thomas South, and I believe that according to the date you have listed this would be the same Thomas you are asking about. Granny said that she was always told that her mothers mother was named Elizabeth South Massengill. Apparantly Elizabeth had her first 2 children out of wedlock (Thomas & Diantha). I have found the grave of Elizabeth South Massengill in Kentucky, but I have no written documentation that she was the mother of Diantha South. Thomas South does show up in some of the Fentress Co Tn census records as living with an aunt. Hope this helps. Liz
