It is called a sysex dump.
I'm not sure of your entire situation, but any computer sequencing package worth it's salt will store module information(patch data, samples, loops) along with any other parameters, right in the single song file.
When loading a song, in one of my studios, a single load command fills ALL modules, synths, effects units, samplers etc., with the same data as when the song was worked on last.
