Kari,
I am looking for a someone to take my aged TB Stallion. He is breding sound and bred several mares last year. He was born in 1985. This makes him 23 years old. He has been turned out 24/7 in large field with about 10 geldings. He is very good turned out with other horses. He is easy to handle, and has done live cover breeding his whole life.
He is a Secretariat grandson on his mother's side. His father is Stop the Music. His babies are breeder's cup eligible and he is registered with the Jockey Club, Performance horse registry, AQHA, and Appy club of America. He has two of his babies currently competing in eventing at the Prelim level and several racing. He is very large boned, 16.3 hands, bay, with fantastic movement and large stride. I used to compete him in jumping and eventing and he was very good in those endeavors.
The problem I have is I am unable to keep the weight on this horse and do not want to see him waste away. I have been trying everything I can think of and have Been told to do to get weight on this horse. He is not at all sickly and still gallops around his pasture quite able. I think he needs more constant care that I am able to give him. He just had his teeth done and he still eats his grain/senior feed just fine. I just feel he needs more hands-on care than I am able to give him. He needs to be with people who know what to do with a geriatric horse. He has no major health issues, and has never had any issues with Colic. His larynx is paralyzed on one side so he hangs his tongue out a lot, but it does not effect him in anyway. He is still so full of life and produces very nice babies. I was hoping he could go someplace where he could be well taken care of and serve a purpose.
