Re: Gas gage Wiring-1959 12v FC150
Hey joe, another tip, passed on from will, make sure you have a good ground from cluster, to dash, to cab, to chassis. I had the same problem, so ran a ground from the cluster directly to the batttery as a test, and everything worked! Good Luck!
I give up: I can't seem to get the gauge to work, and I may have cooked it because I saw some smoke under the glass.
I working with a new wiring harness made for this application. I wired the Temp Gage with a jumper to the Fuel Gage as the harness instructions required.
The Fuel Gage has 3 posts. The Manual's Wiring Diagram shows a hot wire, a sending unit wire and a "instrument voltage regulator" (I think that was the terminology) wire or post.
The Fuel Gage is not legibly marked to show which post is which, so I tried different combinations , without success.
BTW, I have a '57 instrument cluster, and it has 2 posts on the Fuel Gage, with what I believe is a resister attached to one of the 2 posts.
Will someone straighten me out, please?
Nevermind. I found a wiring diagram on KaiserWillys website, he said, sheepishly.
