Re: PTO on the back of my dana 18 T-case
My Bad, Yes your title confirms an 18 transfer case.
Also look at www.ewillys.com for PTO info and pictures and many other Jeep sites talk about PTO's just search the subject. Very common accessory for early Jeeps to have.
I take it you found a PTO covered with age bolted to the back of the #18 transfer case.( Do you have an 18 or 20 TC? A picture would help) There are different units, Ramsey, Koenig, Spicer and a couple more but these three are most common. The Spicer drives straight out to the rear, the Ramsey and Koenig drop down and can drive to the front and also the rear and there is a Ramsey that mounts in place of the bottom transfer case cover on the model 20 transfer case. There are even twin control units that can drive forward or rear independently. The Koenig and Ramsey have adapters that allow them to bolt on back of a Warn overdrive. And you would neutral the transfer case and use the different transmission gears for stationary use and accessory speed. They are all used to drive multiple accessories such as winches, ditch diggers, saws, tow trucks, fire trucks etc. Should find a data plate on it and google Willys PTO (images) and you'll find pics of the PTO's and accessories they can drive.
anybody tell me anything about these?
im currently scraping off about 20+ years of crusted oil and dirt. it spins freely.
