"Regular" drop center rims that are a direct "bolt on" would be the same era Ford 17.5 inch wheels. The 17.5 is the same rolling diameter as the tires on the original "lock ring" 16 inch wheels. The drop center wheels can then run tubeless tires. They come in 6 and 3 hand hole style. At a glance the 6 hole looks like the original wheel. I have both sizes and I'm still deciding on what wheel size to run. Lock ring wheels are safe as long as they are good condition and are mounted properly before airing up.
I'm pretty sure there are no 16 inch drop center wheels that will clear the brake drums. The next choice is to swap the whole axle assembly but that is past what you asked.
has anyone change there split rims to regular truck rims and if so what still or make did you use? thanks
