The problem is that fuel leaks higher up and runs/drips onto the throttle plate and then to the gasket and then soaks the gasket to the outside where you see it. The float level may be to high which could make it run rich also. The only fuel near the base gasket, when all is good and the engine is running, is air/fuel being sprayed and sucked into the engine cylinders.
yes on the filter but the fuel is running out the bottom by the gasket
Two gaskets won't make it leak fuel. Possibly a stuck float needle or debris, are you using a fuel filter? It's a must have add-on for these old trucks. Check for any play in the throttle shaft, there shouldn't be any.
i took the Carter carb off my fc 170 drw today because it was leaking gas from where it bolts on the manifold. there is about a one inch spacer under it and then the gaskets. there was two gaskets on it. any ideas. thanks
