The Ross steering gear looks to be a very sturdy unit. They usually have developed leaks so they need to be rebuilt. Rebuild kits are available. Make sure you use the correct grease to fill the unit.
I played with a Saturn Vue Epas system for 1 1/2 years on and off, but decided to go the hydraulic way (now in progress). The Toyota seems simpler, and the motor is mounted (to the left, more clearance) in reverse of the Saturn (to the right). I hope the photo I have posted shows up. The inline part of the motor infringes on the leg room in the cab.
I questioned the ability of the FC steering box being able to handle power steering.
I just watched a video on YouTube regarding a steering system out of a 2010 Toyota Corolla. It uses electric motor assist and it was being installed on a FC170. it looked rather easy to install. Has anyone else seen this video or installed one of these units?
