Re: Power assist steering convertion
I have access to a precession drill clamped in vice lathe so I should be able to make it work! Where did you get your system? I would like several options.
Just a after thought, you could do with a electric drill, files and a sander what I did with a milling machine and lathe. You would have to be carefull and it woul take some time. You could make it work.
I installed a electric power assist unit. It work very well. Several companies sell the units. I was assured that it was a drop in insulation, it was not. I had to do a lot of machine work on a lathe and milling machine to get it to fit. You also have to reroute the horn button. But it greatly improved the steering and you can adjust how much assist you need.
I just watched a video on YouTube regarding a steering system out of a 2010 Toyota Corolla. It uses electric motor assist and it was being installed on a FC170. it looked rather easy to install. Has anyone else seen this video or installed one of these units?
