Re: Stuck in 2 gears
Thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions Will, John, Blaine and Jesse. It looks like I will be taking the transmission out this weekend and seeing if I can get it straightened out that way.
Ok. The post says Stuck in 2 gears. My thought is that is just plain stupid because transmissions are designed for that not to happen.
Vince posts a picture. I save it and rotate it to better my perspective. Typical shift control rods are near perpendicular to the shift arm when in neutral, or there about. I guessed the picture showed me it is in 1st and 2nd gear.
I thought somehow the interlock function did not work and 2nd gear engaged maybe minimally. Now you have to override the friction caused to get back to neutral.
After the suggestion of Will R I looked at the picture again, and think his theory is supported by the angle of the shift arm on the transmission.
The first transmission I did I went past the detent to see if the shift sleeve could get locked up beyond the synchronizer plates. YES. And it is troublesome to tuck them back in on the bench.
As Will R suggested I looked at the picture and my FC150. You should be able to unbolt the box and slide it back to remove the cover and look in the transmission.
I hope I helped.
