Clutching can be a real PITA on FCs. In order to keep from grinding gears, people adjust the linkages a little too tight and the throwout bearing could have been rubbing on the fingers. The last paragraph in the shop manual talks about removing the clutch pedal and grinding off an eighth to a quarter of an inch to increase clutch throw. The trade off is the clutch pedal is then a little higher than the brake pedal. But this is better than grinding gears.
