I dont want to sound over paranoid but I do asbestos sampling and evaluations . You probably dont have the proper respirator/ and nomex suits to do it the way we would in industry... So here are a couple of things that may help. Clothing can become contaminated easily so if you dont have a disposable suit wear clothes that you can throw away. Most of the time if you can keep it wet it is less likely to become airborne. So if i was doing it the unofficial way I would hose the thing down keeping it wet keep myself upwind. It seems that most things that were insulating and made from the 30s -80s had asbestos in them so I would treat it like it does have it in it even if we are not sure.
: Hi all,
: This is going to sound dumb. A friend told
: me the insulation/heat barrier on the
: underside of the factory engine cover could
: be asbestos....as i was pulling broken
: pieces of it out. Is he right and if so
: whats the best way to remove it.
: thanks all in advance
