I have the front end off, inspecting and replacing tie rod ends, drag link ends, bearings, seals, sweeps, etc. Notice that there is some slop in the bell crank pivot as the shaft rocks slightly.
Is the bearing a tapered bearing(s?) in the bell crank? can I adjust the slop out? If yes, quick how to would be great.
Or, I am this far, just replace the bearings or the entire crank, have new ends and new pivot shaft. thoughts?
I have not removed the drag link ends on the bell crank or selector shaft on the steering box yet. That next. What are the tolerances on the ends? They are balls, right? I can mike them, check for round and wear...
AND, what should I look for in the steering box? if there is as much slop in the box as there was in the whole front end....
Thats all for now, thanks again for the great advise everyone?
