I have a 59 170 with a 4 speed. I'm in the process of putting it all back together. Full motor rebuild, transmission and xfer case also rebuilt. There is a rod, which sticks out of the side of the bell housing that operates the clutch. I had to drive it out of the bell housing and cut off whatever was connecting it to the shaft the clutch cable attaches to because it was so rusted. Everything is still existing, but over the years the connection became wallowed out, rusty and worn out.
I am assuming it was some sort of clevis with a cotter pin. What confuses me is that its a slot about 3/4" long. Anyone have a picture of the area of their 170?
