thanks, now that you mention it, I think you are correct regarding tooth count.
there is always a market for the Warn OD units, Ill post and sell on ebay. Herm may be able to switch over to 29 tooth, or Ill exchange with Herm. He has a stock of re manufactured and lots of parts.
See you in a couple of weeks,
: Hey Mark,
: I'll have to check for sure but I thought
: that all the FC's had a 29 tooth gear. I
: thought the 26 tooth was for the earlier
: transfer cases with the smaller shaft (1
: 1/8" or 7/8") Not all is lost if
: this is the case. I'll see if I can find
: out for sure today as I venture out to the
: shed. I think you can swap to the earlier
: T/C case on your FC and make the OD work.
: Herm would know for sure.

: Hello all,
: Mark from Wisconsin here. I have a Warner
: Overdrive that I am sending to Herm for
: rebuild, inspect, etc. The internals are
: looking really nice, all the gears are
: clean, no chips, the bearings look and roll
: well. It came off of a Spicer transfer
: case. The snap ring is good, the odd washer
: came out, and nut came off easily, no
: fighting. It was an easy removal. Checking,
: the stamp on the big gear on the OD
: planetary gearing assembly reads: 26.
: Please someone confirm that the shaft on the
: 57 FC 170 is in fact a 26 tooth BEFORE I
: send this thing off to Herm.
: AND, if someone has a spare Warner outer
: housing / shroud with shifter shaft intact,
: I would be interested as the guy I bought
: the OD from shipped it ATTACHED to the
: Spicer Transfer case, in transit the shifter
: shaft on the OD was really smacked pretty
: hard, bending it and snapping the aluminum,
: cast in retaining ring on the backside of
: the OD housing. Nice guy... Not. Just the
: outer housing and shifter mechanism, I have
: everything else.
: Ill see Y'all in Phoenix in March,
: Happy Motoring!
: Mark from Wisconsin
