Mark from Wisconsin here. I have a Warner Overdrive that I am sending to Herm for rebuild, inspect, etc. The internals are looking really nice, all the gears are clean, no chips, the bearings look and roll well. It came off of a Spicer transfer case. The snap ring is good, the odd washer came out, and nut came off easily, no fighting. It was an easy removal. Checking, the stamp on the big gear on the OD planetary gearing assembly reads: 26. Please someone confirm that the shaft on the 57 FC 170 is in fact a 26 tooth BEFORE I send this thing off to Herm.
AND, if someone has a spare Warner outer housing / shroud with shifter shaft intact, I would be interested as the guy I bought the OD from shipped it ATTACHED to the Spicer Transfer case, in transit the shifter shaft on the OD was really smacked pretty hard, bending it and snapping the aluminum, cast in retaining ring on the backside of the OD housing. Nice guy... Not. Just the outer housing and shifter mechanism, I have everything else.
Ill see Y'all in Phoenix in March,
Mark from Wisconsin
