.....go ahead and keep it stock. Modify the next one... Chances are the next truck you'll find for sale will have an abandoned conversion anyway. (That's my vote, if I get one.)
It's always tricky trying to remove any Willys transfer case while trying to leave the transmission attached in the car. It's always better to just pull the whole transmission assembly as a unit.
