I'm more of the belief that the bed stayed with the body & frame unless a tragic event occurred. Remember, they usually had 12 paying customers in the back at all times, so I don't think they got too crazy wheelin'-wise. The roads are fairly good out there. They’re more breathtaking than anything. I believe that they patched them up till the bitter end. The FC Tour Jeeps that San Juan Scenic Jeep Tours owned had a pretty short run for their company actually. But they did live 2nd lives elsewhere. Mine was their first one and it appeared in 1964. The earliest picture I have of yours is 1969. By the mid-70’s they were on the way out and the J-20’s ruled the trails. They ran V8’s, ¾ ton axles, adjustable pressure fuel pumps for the mountains, and had much better braking. The J-20’s are still in use today out there! My tour jeep stayed with its original frame for 50 years until I got a hold of it. Bottom line... You have an original bed and can recreate the rest. Please hold off on the bobbing clown head if you would! You might hit it on some of the rock outcroppings out there.
