Dan, You mentioned a wrench in your thread. You will need a socket and a breaker bar to give you enough leverage. Take the spark plugs out first. Then attempt to turn the engine again. If that doesn't work then i would think in terms of what would jam the engine in one position. The first thing that comes to mind are the gears, those in the oil pump and the timing gears. Inspecting either one of these items requires a service manual because they affect the timing of the spark plug firing.
Has the engine been making any unusual noise the last time it was running?
