I had a FC170 with a 60's 327 and a 350 auto. I used it to haul firewood and anything else I needed to haul. I munched the overdrive unit one day hauling firewood while in Direct. A 350 will work but be very careful beacuse the rest of the drive train was not made for that hp or torque.
